One of the earliest photographs of the Esplanade, which was built about 10 years earlier. During August there would have been quite a few people on holiday in Lowestoft, but the photographer would have to take his photo very early in the morning, as the photographic technology wasn't good enough yet to capture anyone in mid-stride or skirts waving in the wind. If you look close there are three tiny men far in the distance and under my glass I can see they are all facing the camera. They would have to be standing very still to be photographed.
