Dear Mother and All,
Just a few lines hoping to find you still in the pink as I am at present. I have just seen Ernest. He was carrying some cups and saucers across to the officer's mess. We are leaving here tomorrow afteroon for Newmarket but I think we shall like better than we do here. I am sending you a few postcards of the bombardment on Lowestoft. We shall perhaps not see Lowestoft again only tomorrow when we go to the station. Well I must now close so good night.
From your loving Son & Brother,
Jim

Jim must have sent several cards in an envelope, as this has no stamp, address, or postmark. It sounds like he is in the military and maybe sending cards of the Bombardment was his way of saying "This is why I'm here."

Every time I read a card from a WWI soldier or sailor, I wonder if they made it back.
