Caption: The Beach & Pier, Lowestoft
In 1905 there was a major storm in Lowestoft that caused quite a bit of beach erosion and damage to the Esplanade. Notice that in this card there is active construction of a breakwater to protect the Children's Corner. If you look closely you can see pile drivers and steam machinery on the wooden construction platform.
