My first inclination was to date this about 1915, but after more thought I'm putting it later, simply because the photographer uses "Bougton's" and not "Boughtons & Son". The man is a corporal in the Army (note the stripes) and the uniform in 1915 and 1940 for a corporal was almost identical. The shoulder cord denoted that this soldier was a lance corporal.
