This is a very large (about 16" x 20") portrait that I purchased in the original frame. The vendor, a local man, didn't know who the family was, but had found it in his attic in Pakefield, so I'm pretty sure it's a local family. The family must have been pretty prosperous to be able to afford nice, but not posh, clothes and the fancy frame the portrait came in.

Compared to other portraits I have of the time, the father's coat is rather casual, so it appears to me that the man wasn't used to being more formally dressed, so maybe he's a prosperous farmer or fisherman.

Augustus Young did a bit of touch ups you can see on the picture where he traced around some of the children's clothes so that the very dark arms and dress edges could be seen.
