Caption: Lowestoft Suffolk
This is a very early view of the South Pier. Note that there is no Royal Hotel on the beach, nor the Reading Room. I also don't see an indication of St. John's Church, whose spire was a major landmark and always included in views. St. John's was built in 1853, so even though someone has written in pencil "1859" on the print, I think it was drawn much earlier, about 1852 and right after the pier was built.
