Dear Mrs. Yale,
Had a very pleasant journey down. The weather is not all one would like, but the weather glass is steady so hope it will be fine tomorrow, anyway it is a nice rest, and we are getting the Sea air. I could do with a month quite comfortably. Kind Regards to Mr. Yale.
Sincerely from,
M. M. L.

A "weather glass" is a barometer and a good barometer was a bit of middle-class tech of the period and the only way to predict the weather, short of simply looking out the window.
