This was taken from a campsite in Pakefield. I've talked with many people who survived WW2 and there seems to be a common theme that's illustrated by this photo. If you were young and fancy free and survived the war reasonably intact, the first thing you did was go on a holiday.

This makes sense to me.

Unfortunately, most people didn't have any money, so they went camping. It was "a thing", which always seemed a bit odd to me, especially for those who spent that last 5 years "camping" in the Army. This happy couple is doing what was typical of the time. They had their old jalopy (that car was old -look at that dull paint and broken grill) and went out to have the best time they could on almost nothing. This camping holiday by the sea was probably one of their fondest memories.
