I love the hats! Can you imagine keeping them firmly pinned to your head in the North Sea wind?

Notice that no one is smiling. Smiling became a photographic convention when images of movies stars came about. People didn't smile because they were worried about their teeth, but because it was considered a bit odd to project an emotion you weren't feeling. It was also harder to hold a realistic smile for the length of time it took early cameras to take a picture.
