VI, - GENERAL REMARKS ON E-BOATS

(i) Number of E-Boat Flotillas

There are eight operational E-Boat flotillas and one school flotilla, the latter based in Swinemunde.

(ii) Location of E-Boat Flotillas

1st: A Mediterranean port.

2nd: Ymuiden (S. O. Kapitanleutnant Klaus Feldt)

3rd: A Mediterranean port (S. O. Kapitanleutnant Werner Toniges).

4th: Rotterdam (S. O. Kapitanleutnant Nield Batge (?)).

5th: Cherbourg

6th: Ymuiden (S. O. Kapitanleutnant Joseph Obermaier)

(iii) Number of E-Boat in Commission

Each of the eight operational flotillas has a theoretical strength of ten boats, though it is not usual for more than seven or eight to be ready for sea at one time. There are thus about eighty E-Boats theoretically available for operations. In practice, there probably not more than fify to sixty.

The number of E-Boats in the school flotilla varies considerably. It is usually seven or eight.

(iv) E-Boat Command

Fregattenkapitan Rudolph Petersen, of the 1925 term, is S. O. E-Boats ("Fuhrer der Schnellboote") and has command of all E-Boats. His headquarters are at the Hague.

(N.I.D. Note- Petersen was forerly S. O. of the 2nd E-Boat Flotilla when it was based on Ostend in June, 1941. He was succeeded in this appointment by his then Adjutant, Kaptianleutnant Klaus Feldt.)

(N.I.D. Note- This information has not been verified and the spreed is considerd to be too high.)
