Ernest Delany had a studio at 2 Elizabeth Terrace, London Road, Lowestoft according to Kelly's Suffolk Directory, 1865. Later he moved to 2 Linden Villas, London Road South, Lowestoft (Kelly's Suffolk Directory 1869). He was one of the earliest photographers in Lowestoft and worked at a time when photography was a quick way to get a cheaper (and trendier) portrait with the goal to imitate painted miniatures and portraits. He advertised as an artist first and foremost who also offered the new technology of photography.
