H. G. Rogers

H. G. Rogers worked from 158 London Road N., Lowestoft about the turn of the century. Rogers & Chapman was a photography shop that operated out of London Road, Lowestoft (Kelly's Suffolk Directory, 1858) much earlier. I'm sure there are two Rogers and these are not one and the same person. The postcards are early, but not that early and the photos used in them have a 1900-1910 look. The aerial photos are from about 1935.

The Rogers & Chapman studio is referred to as having "recently opened" in an advertisement in 'The Norfolk Directory News', 6th June 1857. The partners had evidently given it up by 28th February 1860, when it was damaged in a hurricane and referred to, in a subsequent 'Ipswich Journal' report, as 'the photographic studio, late of Messrs Rogers and Chapman'.
