(ii) Command

(iii) Administration, etc.
The Administration office of the flotilla are in a villa at 289, Bloemendaalsche Weg, Overveen, near Haarlem. Accomodation for personnel is also provided in this building.
(iv) Base
Boats of the flotilla normally lie in the E-Boat shelters in the Heringhaven at Ymuiden. When space is available, they lie in the Fishereilhaven.
(i) "Scharnhorst"
A rating who had made the "channel dash" with "Scharnhorst" and "Gneisenau" in spring, 1942, confirmed that "Scharnhorst" had been mined in the Channel. Despite this, she had continued at 28 knots.
(ii) "Gneisenau"
A rating who had previously served in "Gneisenau" said that she ahd recently been fitted with six 38 cm. (15-in.) guns, replacing her nine 28 cm. (11-in.) guns. He had heard that she would be ready for sea in October, 1943. She was stated to have a maximum speed of 32 knots.
(N.I.D. Note- Air photographs do not confirm these statements concerning armament. It is improbable that she could be ready for operations by October.)
(iii) "Isar"
The former U-Boat escort ship "Isar" (3,850 gross tons) lay in Wilhelmshaven in August, 1940. She had been converted from a U-Boat escort ship to a flak ship and accommodated ratings undergoing seamanship instruction. Her captain was Oberleutnant zur See der Reserve Schapler.
(iv) "Tanga"
The E-Boat depot ship "Tanga" (4,200 gross tons) lay at Helsingor from June to October, 1941 acting as a depot ship at the 6th E-Boat Flotilla. She then returned to Germany.
(v) "Shiff 18"
Prisoners mentioned a vessel names "Shiff 18" which had originally been fitted out as a raider, but which was employed as a "Sperrbrecher".
(i) Beverloo
The 15th Manning Division is located at Beverloo. It consists of five companies. The Commanding Officer is Kapitan zur See zur Disposition Schuez. (Information as at February, 1942.)
(ii) Ostend
Ostend was the base of the 6th E-Boat Flotilla from October, 1941, to April, 1942.
Danzig was the base of the 6th E-Boat Flotilla from February, 1941.
Helsingor
Helsingor was the base of the 6th E-Boat Flotilla in summer 1941.
