Barker Studios

Barker's Studios was located at 155 London Road, Lowestoft and also operated under the name Promenade Snaps

Image L0226 is of Fred Barker, who could very well have been a relative of the Barkers of Barker's Studios, if you subscribe to the theory that the photographers in town knew each other.

Barker's also sold "stickybacks" in partnership with Sidney Boultwood (at least, they shared an address) and you can see an example on Card L1251.

One location of Stickyback Studios was located at Lowestoft Bridge, Lowestoft and/or 155 London Road, Lowestoft, both locations between 1912-1913. More than one company produced ‘Sticky Backs’, which were small adhesive-backed portraits, taken by an early type of automatic photo system. The Suffolk Directory branches of a StickyBack chain was run by Sidney Boultwood. More information – both about the format and about Boultwood’s business – can be found on the Sussex Photohistory, Reference
