Edgar

(First name unknown) Edgar worked at 149 London Road South, Kirkley, Lowestoft as listed in Kelly's Suffolk Directory of 1900/1904/1908/1912/1916, Ipswich Directory of Trades 1906/1907, and Town & County's Eastern Counties of England, 1901. Kelly's Suffolk Directory of 1908/1912/1916 listed Edgar at 151 London Road South, Kirkley, Lowestoft.

If you notice, the last year listed is 1916. This is not a coincidence. Poor Mr. Edgar's studio was one of the unfortunates that were bombed in the Lowestoft Bombardment by the Germans on the 25th of April, 1916. His studio took a direct hit and you can see photos of it here and here.

I'm sure that a few of the photos I have were taken after the War, but I don't know yet when he finally closed his shop. I think he was still taking professional sittings up to between 1925 and 1929.

Edgar's work included studio portraiture and local landmarks used on postcards. The photo L0222 of the panto or play is bizzare and I'd love to know when that was taken.
